El Niño Observatory is an independent information platform operated by Quasar Group, based in Brazil, CNPJ 36.527.972/0001-86. Contact: hello@elninoobservatory.com. We are not a government agency, emergency service or insurer, and are not affiliated with NOAA, IRI or the agencies we cite.

For emergencies, follow local authorities

The site and its emails provide general climate information and preparedness context, not official warnings, evacuation instructions or a continuously monitored alert service. Do not wait for an update from us to take protective action. Follow your national weather service, civil defense and emergency services.

A low score, missing data or no email does not mean you are safe. Conditions can worsen between updates. Never use our maps to decide whether a flooded road, river crossing or property is safe. In immediate danger, contact the emergency services for your location.

Forecasts are not guarantees

ENSO describes large-scale climate patterns, not the exact weather at an address. Forecasts, historical impact zones, river-flow estimates and AI-assisted explanations contain uncertainty, can be wrong and may be revised. Grid resolution, drainage, terrain and local conditions limit city-level interpretation.

Our flood screening score is not a probability of flooding. Modeled river comparisons and illustrative water-depth cues are not observed flood levels or property-level assessments. A displayed update time may refer to the source observation rather than the moment you opened the page.

What city updates mean

Signup requests a confirmation email and one reminder if needed. You can request another confirmation email on the site. After confirmation, we send a weekly digest covering the NOAA week and regional context for your chosen cities. Delivery is spread across batches and may be delayed or interrupted; we do not promise a particular day or hour. These are not real-time hazard alerts.

You can unsubscribe using the link in a confirmation, reminder, welcome or weekly email. Not every city appears in every bulletin. The absence of a city from a watch region is not an all-clear.

Use information responsibly

Verify important information with the cited source and qualified local professionals. The site does not provide individualized engineering, medical, legal, financial or insurance advice. It should not be your sole basis for evacuation, travel, construction or other safety-critical decisions.

Do not disrupt the service, access private records, submit someone else's details without permission or present our interpretations as official forecasts. Third-party data, imagery and logos remain subject to their owners' rights and source licenses; citing them does not imply endorsement.

Some preparedness links are affiliate links: we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Buying is optional and does not affect access to forecasts. Commercial arrangements are separate from the climate information.

Purchases, payment, delivery and returns are handled by the retailer, under its own terms and privacy notice. Check the exact model, condition, price and delivery location before buying. Product photos show the main reference item; variants, alternatives and Amazon local matches may differ. Category illustrations provide general guidance when shopping links are unavailable. Amazon may direct you to a local match or search results; availability is not guaranteed.

We work to provide useful information, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, complete coverage or error-free forecasts, translations and emails. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the information is provided without a promise that it is suitable for a particular purpose.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, limits mandatory consumer or data-protection rights, or waives remedies available under applicable law. Brazilian law applies subject to mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights that apply where you live. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or an exclusive foreign court.

We may update the service and these terms, with the current date shown above. Material changes will be identified on this page; changes do not retroactively waive your rights.
