Optional shopping and measurement

Approximate IP country suggests a product selection, separately from your forecast city. You can change it; the shopping choice stays only in the current component's memory. Manual preparedness choices stay only in browser session storage. We measure card views, clicks and country choices with product, category, retailer, market and page-placement codes, not subscriber names or email addresses. These optional events respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.

Product photos for U.S. and European selections are hosted by this site. Brazilian product photos load directly from Mercado Livre's image CDN. Loading them can disclose your IP address and technical request information to that image host, even without clicking a shopping link. We do not add retailer tracking pixels.

Clicking an affiliate link sends our affiliate identifier to the retailer, which may use cookies and other technologies under its own privacy notice. Email consent is not consent to retailer tracking. We receive affiliate-program reports, not your checkout or payment details.

Who is responsible

Quasar Group, based in Brazil, CNPJ 36.527.972/0001-86, is responsible for the personal data used to operate El Niño Observatory. For privacy questions and rights requests, write to hello@elninoobservatory.com. You can browse the tracker without signing up.

Information you provide

For city updates we collect your first and last name, email, chosen cities, language, consent and its date, subscription status, confirmation and unsubscribe records, and email-delivery history. Names personalize communications; cities and language tailor the digest. Required form fields are needed to complete signup.

Sponsorship inquiries include contact and organization details, website and role if provided, markets, placement interest, budget, timing, message and optional referral source. We save the inquiry and email it to our team at hello@elninoobservatory.com. Please do not include sensitive personal information or other people's details without permission.

Location and browser information

We use approximate IP-based location to suggest a city. This is not a precise GPS reading and can be incorrect. You can choose a different city. Search text and chosen or approximate coordinates are sent to location and forecast services to provide results.

Your city list is saved in browser session storage for the current tab. Shared page links may include a chosen city and coordinates. Hosting, security and audience-measurement systems process technical request information such as IP address, browser/device details, pages visited, timing and approximate region.

Why we use information

We use signup consent to send the requested confirmation, one reminder if needed and, after you confirm, city digests. Sponsorship consent allows replies about that inquiry, not enrollment in the digest or unrelated marketing. You may withdraw either permission.

We also process necessary technical data to operate and secure the site, prevent abuse, understand aggregate use and respond to requests. Applicable legal bases may include legitimate interests balanced against your rights, steps you request before a contract, and compliance with legal obligations. We do not use weather scores to make legal or eligibility decisions about you.

Service providers and international processing

Hosting, private storage, email delivery, contact-list management, analytics, maps and weather services receive information needed for their functions. Our authorized operators can access subscription and inquiry records. Email providers process your address, name and the personalized email content, including chosen cities. Local AI-assisted research uses place names and public weather information, not subscriber names or email addresses.

Providers may process data outside Brazil under their own infrastructure and applicable transfer requirements. Contact us for information about the providers and safeguards relevant to your data. We do not sell subscriber contact lists or give them to sponsors for independent marketing. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect rights and security.

External content and cookies

Maps, videos, wind visualizations, flags, publisher icons and other external resources can connect your browser to third parties, sometimes automatically as content loads. Those providers may receive your IP and browser information and use cookies or similar technologies under their own notices. If advertising is enabled, its provider may also use these technologies.

Browser privacy settings can restrict cookies and third-party content, although some features may not work. The signup checkbox is consent for requested emails, not blanket consent to advertising or all third-party tracking. We do not add tracking pixels to our email templates.

Retention and unsubscribe

Unsubscribing stops future digests; it does not automatically delete your profile. Subscription, inquiry and saved email records currently remain in private storage unless removed through a separate deletion process. We retain information for the requested service or inquiry and necessary consent, security, suppression and legal records, not as permission for unrelated marketing.

You may request deletion by email. We assess copies in our records and service providers, retaining only what applicable law permits or requires, such as a minimal suppression record to avoid emailing you again. We will explain any lawful reason a requested deletion cannot be completed. There is no automatic fixed-day purge currently in place.

Your choices and rights

Contact hello@elninoobservatory.com to ask whether we process your data, access or correct it, withdraw consent, request deletion or restriction, ask about sharing, or request portability where applicable. You can also object to processing where the law allows. We may need proportionate identity verification to protect your records; please do not send identity documents unless requested through an agreed secure process.

Requests are handled without a fee within applicable legal deadlines. You may complain to Brazil's data-protection authority, ANPD, or the competent authority where you live. Confirmation, reminder, welcome and weekly emails include an unsubscribe link to stop future confirmation messages and digests.

Security, children and changes

We use private record storage, restricted operator access and encrypted web connections, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Keep confirmation and unsubscribe links private because they act on your subscription.

Our email and partnership forms are intended for adults; we do not intentionally seek children's personal data. Contact us if a child submitted details so we can investigate and address them. We update this notice when practices change and identify material changes here; any new purpose requiring consent will need a separate choice.
